Hard Work Pays Off
Derrick Harris Jr,. a junior at New Caney High School started training at Texas Footwork in the eighth grade. Coach Hendricks started off as his coach for his little league football team, the Atascocita Ravens. Since Harris has been training at Texas Footwork, he has grown a lot with his footwork and speed. “When I first started training, my hips were tight, and now they are looser, and I am way more explosive and faster,” Harris said. Harris finished his 18-19 varsity season with 4.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 83 total tackles.
With all the hard work that he has put in, he has recently received eight offers from schools like the University of Texas, Texas A&M, and the University of Miami. Harris said the recruiting process was slow for him at first, but when he got his first offer from SMU, everything started to blow up.
“My experience at Texas Footwork has been great,” Harris said. “I like working one on one where the trainers can focus on you more and they push me to get better each day.” ”
