Keep Pushing To The Greatness Within Myself

Keep Pushing

After graduating from Atascocita High School in 2015, Kyle Nelson went on to run track at Coffeyville Community College where he became a 3x All-American in the 600, 2x All-American in the 400, and a 2x All-American in the 4×4.

He then continued his track career at Lamar University, where he redshirted his first year there.

The summer before going to Coffeyville is when Nelson started training at Texas Footwork. His first experience with Darren Hendricks was tough, but he kept going back afterward. “Darren is very encouraging. When you feel like you want to quit, he is going to encourage you to keep pushing,” Nelson said. “He’s a good motivator because he pushes you to a limit you think you can’t get to, but you actually can.”

Working out at Texas Footwork has helped Nelson become mentally tough because everyone motivated him and put in his head that he had to believe in himself that he can do it and he can succeed in everything he does.

All the hard work he put in preparing for Lamar at Texas Footwork, led him to split a 46.8 in the 4×4 and run a 21.6 in the 200. With that being said, he saw the progress in his times and also saw progress when his vertical jump went up three inches, his squat went up about 35 lbs, and his bench went up 30 lbs.

A car accident on Easter weekend 2019 caused him to have a little setback, but he didn’t let it stop him from working hard and continuing to make himself better. “I want a ring this year, and I’m going to continue to work as hard as I can this summer to help my team achieve this goal,” Nelson said. ”
